I am a computational linguist with strong interest in learning (by humans and machines). Currently, I work at Seminar für Sprachwissenschaft , University of Tübingen .

Previously, I worked in the department of Information Science (Informatiekunde) at the University of Groningen after receiving my PhD in Computational Linguistics at the University Groningen.

Prior to my PhD, I studied Cognitive Science and Computer Engineering in Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. In another life (that run in parallel at times), I worked as System/Network Administrator at RIPE NCC, METU Computer Center and TÜBİTAK.

Most likely you are here for one of these:

  • TRmorph: a finite state morphological analyzer and related tools for Turkish.
  • An R tutorial with linguistic exercises covering most of the common standard statistical analyses.
  • My GitHub and Bitbucket repositories contain a few other tools that attract occasional interest.
Otherwise, some of my publications and teaching material can be found through the navigation links above.
